Introduction to Staff in Football Manager

Welcome to my new series on the Backroom Staff in Football Manager. This post covers an introduction to Staff in Football Manager.

As the Manager of your football club you will have some important decisions to make about the day to day running of the club. One of the first things you’re going to want to do is decide which responsibilities you want to handle yourself and which you want to delegate to your backroom staff in Football Manager. Delegating responsibility for certain jobs, like negotiating staff contracts, can save you time to concentrate on the more important aspects of being a Football Manager, like who you’re going to play at left-back on Saturday.

This is my introduction post to Staff in Football Manager. From here you will find all the links to the various posts I’ve made about the backroom staff in Football Manager; from what staff responsibilities are available to you, to taking a deeper dive into the role of each of your staff members.

This is an evolving Football Manager guide which will grow over time. There’s a team of just one at There’s Only One Ball, so getting my thoughts down on paper might take me some time. I hope that you find these resources useful and give you some useful hints and tips to use in your own saves. New posts will appear here as I write them.

The Sports Scientists are more about injury prevention that injury recovery. While your club might have a Chief Doctor and/or a Doctor on the payroll, this isn’t a role that you can currently hire for. This is taken care of by your backroom staff, and as a result, you cannot see the attributes of these staff members.
