SeasonSix.EpisodeTwo | Matchs aller
The start of this season and indeed the first half have been just like the previous few. Wins upon wins and hopes upon dreams. With the injuries piling up it’ll be a real test getting this group over the line again this season!
September 2024 – December 2024
Here’s what has been going on at Parc de la Guérinais over the last couple of months.
SEPTEMBER 2024
After yet another impressive August, we began to drop points.
I’m beginning to sound like a broken record now, but against Nice, we had 26 shots to their 6 and it was a similar story at Bordeaux where their 4 shots were enough to earn a draw where our 24 shots were just not enough.
This team is very capable of creating the chances but finishing, again, is a real issue.
OCTOBER 2024
October saw another draw in the league but we maintained our unbeaten run in the league and kept the pressure on Lyon and PSG.
Picking up the win in the Champions League against Galatasaray was a huge result as Arsenal and Inter cancelled each other out.
NOVEMBER 2024
I think the results speak for themselves here, right?
Not only did we keep a clean sheet in every match, but we also beat Galatasaray again in the Champions League. We beat Marseille and Stade Reims. We then only went and smashed Lyon 4-0 followed by another 4-0 victory against Inter bloody Milan!
Maybe we’re better than I give us credit for.
DECEMBER 2024
By the time December came around Lyon started to drop off in the title chase with PSG and ourselves blowing away all who stood before us.
Arsenal reminded us that we were, after all, just a plucky little team from France. However, the rest of the league started to believe that we were becoming a top team.
The Arsenal result didn’t matter, however, as we had only bloody qualified already following the defeat of Inter Milan.
We had achieved the boards very unrealistic expectation of qualifying from the group stages of the Champions League!
Back to the league and everything was going perfectly, so far. Without defeat, however, PSG were not letting up their challenge for an 8th title in a row. Good fun, huh!?
Still, we’re top and while there’s a lot of the season still to play, I’m actually quietly confident that we might have a chance of going the distance this season. However, the injuries are piling up so as long as we don’t sustain more, we should be good for a strong finish.

So that brings us to the end of this update. We’re absolutely flying in the league and have Benfica next in the Champions League. All our stars are aligning.
20-year-old Gilles Schmitt is firing the goals in, 18 in 21 so far this season. If we can keep getting him the ball and keep him fit, I’m quietly confident we can go on to achieve good things.
My next post will be a short one covering the January window.
